Newly Ordained Filipino Columban in Ozamis City!

"Lord as I set sail into the deep and let my nets down for a catch, help me be to others the way You've always been to me."

Fr. Jovito Dalis, a native of Catadman, Ozamiz City was ordained deacon last May 11, 2006 at the Our Lady of Remedy Parish, Malate Manila. On January 4, 2007 he was ordained priesthood at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral by Archbishop Jesus Dosado. About a hundred priests including Columbans, Lay Missionaries, Columban Sisters and other religious groups, his family and friends came to witness his solemn ordination. Fr. Jovito celebrated his first mass on January 7th at San Santiago Chapel, in Catadman, Ozamis City where he comes from.

The ordination was a memorable and unforgetable day for Fr. Vito's family and friends. We the Columbans are also proud of him being the first filipino Columban in Ozamis city. The Columbans have been serving in this Archdiocese until at present.

Vito, as his friends fondly called him, did his First Missionary Assignment in Lima, Peru. He went to Cochabamba Bolivia for five months to learn Spanish. He worked in Cristo Liberador Parish, Canto Grande, Lima, the next fifteen months. He did his theological studies in Chicago Theological Union, Chicago, Illinois. He was assigned to Malate Parish during his Deaconate.

As a newly ordained priest, he is now assigned as assistant pastor to a Columban parish in Agusan, Cagayan de Oro for one year before he will be sent to mission in other country.

"Put out into the deep and let your nets down for a catch." (Luke 5:4)
